ENGINE HATCH OPEN - alcord - 06-26-2015 I just purchased a 88 3300 open and am getting ready to change man, risers, hoses and rust removal from engines. Wondering what anyone has used or method to open hatch more thanks in advance. ENGINE HATCH OPEN - Salt shaker - 06-26-2015 My friend put in a gen last summer in his 31' '96. They disconnected the bolts to the Pistons connecting the hatch and I think removed the hatch motor to make room. They were able to shim the hatch open more to allow room too drop the gen into the rear of the compartment. Not sure if you have the same setup, Took some work but worked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: ENGINE HATCH OPEN - stones throw - 09-22-2015 This would only work if you could remove the seats. I don't know if it's the same set up but the owner of the 3100 open I just bought said when he was doing major engine work he'd remove the seats and disconnect the hatches from the arms to open them up more. RE: ENGINE HATCH OPEN - stones throw - 09-24-2015 the 31 is miles different than the 33...The 31 is much easier to get at the mills...But seats have to come out either way. RE: ENGINE HATCH OPEN - Chris Burkard - 10-23-2015 If you do not have a forklift or overhead crane/winch, remove the seat modules and unbolt the electric deck ram and open the hatch all the way to 90 degrees (obviously tie secured in the open position for safety!). If you have a forklift or overhead crane, I'd remove the entire hatch (seats and all). Good luck! RE: ENGINE HATCH OPEN - surfveyor - 12-05-2015 Agreed, unbolt ram and seats. The hinges will stop out and prevent full access. I have removed the hinges and removed the floor by hand a couple of times. |
