Static in marine radio - kurts52 - 09-03-2015 Having some static issues with my marine radio when on channel 9. This only happens when the breaker for the C80 Raymarine unit is on. The unit at the helm could be off and it still happens. This is not really a squelch issue because it only happens on 9. Does anyone have this same issue or know of a filter or suppresser that would maybe solve this problem. Radio works fine otherwise. Radio and C80 are both wired to the same buss bar. This might be the problem. RE: Static in marine radio - Uhehner - 09-03-2015 I have had VHF interference issues on various boats caused by refrigeration units, depth sounders and florescent lights. It may be as simple a fix as a capacitor across the 12 volt supply to the radio. Try connecting the VHF to another temporary 12 volt battery to see if it's a power source problem or a radiation problem. Does your hand held VHF have the same issue? A good marine electronics tech can usually isolate and fix the problem. Capt. George |
