Removal of false windshield panels . - Tiara3600 - 11-01-2015 [attachment=145]Hello everyone, I have a 1987 Tiara Convertible 3600. This boat does not have the lower helm station so it doesn't have the lower front windshield in it, instead it has the gray painted panels on the front. The panels are faded I would love to remove them and just buff and polish the fiberglass under them and leave them or or I might repainted them to match the boat color. These panels are screwed and glued on with what I'm not sure I'm thinking 5200 or 4200 but uncertain. My question is how do I go about removing them without damaging the gelcoat underneath? Thanks, PJ RE: Removal of false windshield panels . - Uhehner - 11-02-2015 If they are installed with 5200 you will need dynamite to remove them. I suggest painting them in place with Awlgrip. My 36 has glass front windows and no lower helm. I recently refinished the frames with Awlgrip and they look new. Capt. George |
