Transmission Damper plate on 8.1 L w/ Hurth - MTULL - 12-07-2015
Does anyone have experience changing a transmission dampener plate on a Hurth transmission w/ 8.1 mercruisers ?

Before you blame the damper plate and change it, make sure the engine idles perfectly smooth. I just had lots of clanking sounds in my starboard Hurth transmission. Hurths are know to rattle if everything is not perfect. After putting in new plugs to correct rough running the xmission noise went away and the engine ran like new. I took out the Denso plugs and installed #41-993 AC Delco's at about 300 hours. Capt. George
