Dumping the icemaker - Steed36 - 11-27-2012 I have an older 33 open with an ice maker behind the pilot seat in the cockpit. Im sure i am not the only Tiara owner not interested in having an icemaker that uses water from the tank, so I am pulling it. Has anyone seen or created a cool use of this space after removing it. Pictures? Dumping the icemaker - C Breeze - 11-28-2012 I have a 2003 35 open and I removed the ice maker unit only and used the box for a freezer. A friend removed his whole unit and purchased a modular drawer system that fit the space almost perfectly. He uses the drawers for tackle, tools, etc. Dumping the icemaker - momentum - 12-04-2012 I took out the leaky monster and use a counter top unit that uses bottled water . Fits the opening just rite . Dumping the icemaker - Steed36 - 12-04-2012 Not a bad idea Momentum, did you do anything to improve the space where the old one was? Trim out a cabinet or add a door or anything? Dumping the icemaker - momentum - 12-09-2012 I trimmed out the opening with a black walnut noseing and made a platform floor base to raise up the base 2'' .We just have a hand towel hanging as a door for now .Works great . Next up is a new head floor .The teak is coming up . Dumping the icemaker - Chris Burkard - 02-15-2013 I'm not a fan of icemakers on smaller vessels (< 50'). You have to keep the water system clean and free of algae and bacteria and then they take forever to make a little tray of ice. You would be better off pulling the ice maker mechanism out of the unit and just using it to store a bag of store bought ice. There is a company named "Happle" that manufactures all kinds of cabinet systems, tackle systems and drawers that will fill the ice maker space perfectly. Tiara uses them for many of cockpit drawer and tackle centers on the new boats. Google them and see what comes up. Sincerely, Dumping the icemaker - Steed36 - 02-19-2013 Thanks Chris Dumping the icemaker - Chris Burkard - 02-23-2013 You are very much welcome.
