2006 Sovran 3600 radar placement - sluggo - 07-19-2016 my Sovran has an e120 raymarine with gps only. I would like to add an open array radar to it. To my knowledge there are no qualified installers within 100 miles of me, so who ever I get I figure I am going to have to coach a little. That said, where on the top would you recommend placing the open array unit?? I guess I have to be careful relative to the hatches. Anyone know or have it done?? Is there a schematic from Tiara about where to place this?? TIA. RE: 2006 Sovran 3600 radar placement - Uhehner - 07-19-2016 Just my 2 cents. You don't want the radar beam to hit the GPS antenna and you want to mount the unit at about a 5 degree down angle to account for the bow rising when you are running. And DON'T cut the cable in order to snake it through a pipe. Capt George RE: 2006 Sovran 3600 radar placement - Maxwell - 07-19-2016 If its anything like the 39 Sovran that we had previously, or our current 42 Open, there should be an access panel on the under side of the hard top in the center. You will center the new radar here... Tiara generally has some sort of channel that you will then run the cable through. If you're lucky, there will even be lines in there to pull the new cable. max RE: 2006 Sovran 3600 radar placement - sluggo - 07-19-2016 (07-19-2016, 10:26 AM)Uhehner Wrote: Just my 2 cents. Capt George if the Radar is above the GPS antenna, would this be acceptable placement? to obtain a 5 degree down angle, are there shims available? RE: 2006 Sovran 3600 radar placement - Maxwell - 07-19-2016 If its what I'm thinking, you would center it front/back and side/side within the opening on the underside of the hardtop. You want to be able to access the bolts on the underside in order to back plate it etc. (07-19-2016, 10:33 AM)sluggo Wrote:(07-19-2016, 10:26 AM)Uhehner Wrote: Just my 2 cents. You just don't want it to shine on the GPS and fry the electronics. For shims I have seen nuts and washers on the rear mounting bolts. Capt.
