Gray water (Sea locker) pump not pumping - Mah na' Mah na' - 04-10-2013 1999 40 express: has anyone had a problem with the sea locker (gray water holding tank located center aft in the engine room) not working? My switch seems to be telling the pump to run when there is water in the tank, and the pump runs but nothing is coming out. As a result, the pump runs all the time but not pumping anything. The pump is accessed via the hatch in the floor of the transom storage garage but way back under to port and very hard to get to. Has anyone tried to replace this before?? Looking for any guidence on this. Do I do it myself, or save myself the busted knuckles, sore back, and bruised ego and hire it done. Gray water (Sea locker) pump not pumping - Chris Burkard - 04-10-2013 Mah, It sounds like the intake is blocked or the impeller has spun from the shaft. If it is plugged up and blocked, you may be able to just clean it out. If the impeller spun, then you will have to replace the pump. I have never had to replace this pump, but I have had several clients that had to get into this sump and no good words where ever spoke about dealing with the location of this sump. If you are really mechanically inclined and have the tools, I would give it a try. Otherwise, hire a qualified technition to handle it. Good luck and let us know how this works out. Sincerely, |
