Hi all,

I am in the final stages of purchasing a 2001 31 open with the crusader 7.4 MPI's. does anyone know how much HP these motors have? I am also looking for a performance report and fuel consumption if anyone has that.

Thanks. Andy

Andy...My last big block gas motors were 8.1 Liter and they were 385 HP...I think yours are 370 HP....you can usually find the performance reports by doing a Google search. The 31 I used to run for a friend of mine had a sweet spot at about 32-33 hundred RPMs and burned 26-28 GPH depending on crew and gear and conditions. My best guess is we were cruising at 22-24 knots, since he didn't have working speedometer od GPS at the time. Enjoy the boat...Bill

My 31' Open had 454's (7.4) with carbs. They were rated at 350 HP. Best cruise was at 32-3300 and 22-24 knots on the GPS. I always used 25 GPH as my fuel burn estimate. Capt. George

I just got the performance report from tiara with the 454 MPI's. it looks like they are 320 HP and like 3200 - 3400 rpms. It's 22-24 Knts and 25-28 gph giving .97-.99 MPG.

Thanks

In 2001, the Crusader 7.4L MPI's were rated at 320 HP ea. 1996 and earlier were carbureted, 1997 and 1998 they were TBI (Throttle Body Fuel Injection - 2 injectors) and in late 1998/1999 Crusader went to MPI (Multi-port injection - 8 injectors).

Yes the earlier engines Pre-1997 where rated at either 330 HP or 350 HP, but the HP was calculated differently and they are not actually more powerful. Just and FYI.

Good luck and enjoy the boat!
