HELLO FROM NOVA SCOTIA ,CANADA - jcarrollgm - 06-12-2013 I am a new member and do my boating on the Atlantic coast in Canada. We have a 2006 Tiara Open with C12 Cats. The boat is amazing in our bigger seas and provides very comfortable cruising for the coast line of beautiful Nova Scotia. Looking forward to learning lots in this forum. John Carroll Gail Force Tiara 4200 Open  HELLO FROM NOVA SCOTIA ,CANADA - Chris Burkard - 06-18-2013 Welcome Aboard John! I enjoyed selling and operating the 42 Opens. The C-12 CATS are great engines. Enjoy the season and good weather while it lasts! Sincerely, HELLO FROM NOVA SCOTIA ,CANADA - jcarrollgm - 07-30-2013 Hey Chris; You are absolutely spot on about the Cats. They are a tad on the thirsty side compared to my 450 Cummins but they can sure move the 42 at a strong cruise speed. The weather has been unbelievable here. Far too many days in the high 90's. we much prefer our comfortable75- 80 degree days. The boating here is great well in to October because of our proximity to the gulf stream. Just need more time and a few truck loads of fuel! HELLO FROM NOVA SCOTIA ,CANADA - YOLO - 07-31-2013 The 42 might be my all time favorite Tiara, congrats!
HELLO FROM NOVA SCOTIA ,CANADA - outrigger - 07-31-2013 I have a 42 with the c12s and she runs great. how hard do you guys run them? I usually cruise at 1950-2000 and that gets me 29-30 kts. HELLO FROM NOVA SCOTIA ,CANADA - Chris Burkard - 08-01-2013 Outrigger, According to the Tiara Performance reports the 715 CATS, 1900 to 2000 is the most economical cruise 28 - 30 knots at .62 to .61 NMPG. The Cummins QSM11 715 has similar economy at 29 knots .57 NMPG. HELLO FROM NOVA SCOTIA ,CANADA - Jim Gilly - 08-01-2013 How would you compare the 715 Cummins to the 715 Cats; what makes one better suited for what uses? |
