40 Express Light Switch - borcheb - 06-19-2017

When entering the cabin, there is a series of three light switches mounted just below the counter top.  What does the first switch on the port side control?  Any insight would be helpful.  (the other two operate interior lights)

Hi Not sure if this will help but, I have a 38 Open and the three switch's I have under my counter in the galley operate as follows; 2 are lights and 1 is for the galley exhaust fan.

Same on our 44' Sovran, 2 are light switches and 1 is the stove fan. Our stove fan has a separate breaker as well that must be turned on for the switch to work.

I have the 2002 40 express. It is for the courtesy lights on the stairs and under the toe kick in the galley.

Thats interesting. On our boat, the courtesy step lights and toe kick lights are activated by a ribbon switch under the first step when you step in the boat. When activated, they stay on for about five minutes. Do you have the same set up on your 40 express?? If so, can you also activate the courtesy lights with the switch? I so, then I need to trouble shoot my switch as it is not working. Thanks!!

I do not have the ribbon switch setup.  Neat idea though; I wonder if it was a customization?  That would explain why the switch doesn't do anything.
