Reducing chine slap at anchor - Yukon - 02-27-2018
Has anyone found a good solution to reduce chine slap at anchor or even in an exposed slip?

Have no clue if this works or not but thought I would post it. My wife and I aren't bothered by the chine slap, 'Embrace the slap' LOL

I did find the sound of water soothing as the waves ran by the smooth hull of the sailboat, but the clunking sound of the waves hitting the chines is a bit different and can get quite loud in exposed anchorages. I have some ideas and will try them to help reduce it. Thanks for looking.

Put some old blankets or towels in the compartments to absorb the sound.
At the dock I just keep the AC blower running.

I have heard you can tie life jackets on a line and pull them just under the bow. The off the lines on both sides. A sailboat told me about this but I haven't tried it. Worth a shot??

My brother lives on his sailboat and it slaps loud. He takes pool noodles and runs a line through them. Put one end of the line on a spring cleat and loop the noodles around the front of the boat and tie off on the other side. Works pretty well.

I got one of these for my 3200. It kills about 75-80% of the noise. Adjusting it and getting it tight to the hull takes some work (usually a jaunt in the dinghy up to the bow) but once you dial it in there was a material reduction.
