Y Valve for emptying Head Hard to reach - grussgott - 03-13-2018

I have owned my 1985 36" Open Tiara for 1 year now and I'm still trying to figure out the head dumping situation. I realize the y-valve needs to be in the open position but to reach it requires lifting the engine compartment and navigating over very hot engines. I've resorted to always leaving it in the open position (lazy) but of course it fills up with water twice as fast, can hardly make it thru a weekend raft-up. There must be an easier way....has anyone made an extension arm of some kind to better reach the valve? Or.......?

My 86 3600 doesn't have a Y valve. The macerator is plumbed to a separate pickup tube and then to a thru hull. There is no way can you accidentally flush raw waste overboard.

You have to keep the valve to the mascerator closed and locked at all times with the flow going to the holding tank. Otherwise the coast guard will find the crap (no pun intended) out of you. Mine is locked down and set on the hose going to the pump out opening.

On my (new to me) 94 Tiara 3100 Open, I have a Vacuflush head with Y-Valve.   I cannot locate the Y-valve - Where is it located?  Maybe behind the 2 engine batteries (port side)?

It was set to macerator/pump overboard when I purchased, and need to switch it to pump-out (and probably keep it in that position).  This thread also explains why my tank was full after a 3 day transport cruise and relatively light usage - before reading this thread I thought it might be a faulty meter.

I have a 2002 3100 Open and the y valve is located on the port side right behind the outward exhaust manifold above the holding tank.

Thanks Matt.  I will be checking again when I am at the boat this weekend.  That is where I keep looking (but not with great visibility).  Still very strange that I cannot locate it

I'll take a picture this weekend.

There are a few other Tiara's at my club as well. I will ask around
