Recommended Batteries for 2008 Tiara Open with Cummins engines and Onan generator - neddaffan - 04-06-2018

It appears that the 2008 model uses six batteries all connected together. My 2001 had separate batteries for the main engines and the generator. Should I purchase all starting rated AGM batteries or should there be different battery types (like deep cycle) for the house batteries?

I own a 2003 38 Open and it has two banks of 3 batteries each. All 6 are GEL batteries..... As these are the originals (marked 2002) on each I'm waiting for them to fail.... I check them periodically to ensure they are still OK and am ready to purchase new ones should any one fail. Will most likely replace all 6 when one fails. Can't believe they still are good but am very thankful that they are... Estimate replacement at ~$1500.00 but it could be more... At this point they have given me more than what I could expect, 16 years so far.... As the charging systems, both alternators and charger are set for GEL batteries I will replace with GEL. Not sure why you talk about AMG unless the 2008 came with them or were changed by a previous owner.... M2C

You may want to reach out to Tiara and get a wiring diagram. I would be very surprised if they wired in only one battery bank. Usually it's two banks with a parallel and or emergency interconnect switch on the main disconnect panel.

As reel magic stated your charge system configuration should dictate which batteries to go with. You are probably better off staying with all start batteries.
