Engine Compartment Vents - vin - 10-10-2013 I own a 2006 2900 Open Classic I am Having a problem wtih squirels getting in to the engine compartment has anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it .Thanks Engine Compartment Vents - Uhehner - 10-11-2013 I had all kinds of critters jumping on my boat. To solve the problem I installed mooring whips and rat guards. I made the rat guards from 5 gallon plastic pail covers with plastic mushroom thru hull fittings in the center sized to fit my dock lines. These were held in place with s/s hose clamps on the line on either side of the mushroom fitting. They spin on the line and have repelled all boarders for 3 years now. I installed one on each dock line and one on the power cord. Considering all the possible entry points this looked like a better way to go. I still have not managed to stop the fly in and dump guys. Capt. George Engine Compartment Vents - Chris Burkard - 10-15-2013 That's a first! Never heard of squirrels invading an engine room. Firing up the engines and making it hot should repel them temporarily, but other than that, the whips and line guards sounds good. Good Luck! Engine Compartment Vents - vin - 10-17-2013 Thanks I will give it a try |
