Belt cover replacement - mobil1 - 08-09-2018

I have a 2008 Sovran 4300.  To check and replace the belts on the engine, I had to remove the large plastic covers on the front of the motor, covering the belts.  The port cover was relatively easy to remove and replace, but the starboard cover is NOT going back on even after 2 hours of attempts.  I removed the generator cover to make more room, but still there is no way to replace the cover exposing the belts and front of the motor.  Any help out there?  Thanks
Scott

I went through a similar issue on my 2003 38 Open w/Cummins 6CTA Diamond Series engines. I decided, after much trouble in removing the front  serpentine belt cover that it wasn't going back on... It's there for safety and to encapsulate  the belt should it break....I'll take that risk as it was nearly impossible to put the covers back on.. M2C

I have cat 3208's and no belt covers. Doesn't effect anything and actually makes it easier to get to them. Leave them off, it will make your life easier.

I have a 2009 Sovran with the same issue. Port side belt had been replaced by previous owner and that cover had been modified to be easily removed. The starboard belt had not been replaced. It took 45 minutes to get it off. Used a dremel to modify the cover to a similar shape as the port side. Common problem according to my Volvo mechanic
