Opening Helm Console 2007 Tiara 36 open - rpstanis - 10-08-2018
I am trying to open (swing out) the control console on my 2007 36 Open so I can access the Bose stereo connections.
There are two studs at the top of the console which I have loosened but I can't pull the console towards me.
Do I need ti use a pry bar?

No pry bar for sure. On my 4000 Express, after loosening those 2 finger screws, I need to remove them completely. Having done that, the helm will rotate forward. Still not a ton of room to work back there. Some folks have been known to also remove a display screen and to work through that hole. I haven't tried that yet but I would if I needed to to.

No pry bar and no screws. In the later model opens you just take a firm hold on the wheel and give it a firm pull back toward the helm seat. The console should lean open toward you. At least this is how it worked on my 2000 35 open and my 2005 38 open. Good luck Tom

Do NOT recommend pulling on the steering wheel.... That's straight from Tiara... They recommend putting the shifts in the reverse position and the throttles in the full idle position (assuming removal of if any screws holding the console from moving). Then with your left hands use the shift levers and with your right hands the throttle handles... It most likely will take quite a bit of force to release the hold downs and tip toward the helm seat.... I've used this process many times with success.. M2C
