38 Open TTS Hardtop Issues - Mark Paradise - 12-17-2018
In my 2006 38 Open TTS I am experiencing some issues with my hardtop. First a bolt that holds the center brace to the windshield snapped, then the welds in the center cross brace cracked. Tiara suggested removing the interior center brace and re-welding it off the boat. Unfortunately the center brace is also welded to the super structure just forward of the windshield. It seems that the entire hardtop has settled in the center. Now that the bolts have snapped there is also a lot of lateral movement. I have read some old posts on this site referring to the same issue. Is anyone else have this problem with their hardtop.? Has anyone received a recommendation from Tiara to reinforce the hardtop structure? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked for moisture in the Hardtop? What’s causing the issues? Extra weight? Sounds like structure of top may be compromised.

The same thing has happened to my 2006 3800 Tiara, screw snapped off on starboard side and the weld broke on the horizontal brace on the port side. I’m having my marina fix it though.
