Fish Box set up - skmon - 12-02-2013
My fish boxes drain into the bilge. Kind of gets things smelling bad. I want to set them up to send it overboard.
On oem, does Tiara drain fish boxes out the side over thru the bottom.

You will need to install a Macerator. The original option Teed both fish box drain lines together through a macerator pump and overboard. The fish boxes are too low to just send them overboard directly. Discharges like this need to be a certain level above the water-line and the bottom of the fish boxes are below waterline. If you do this yourself, make sure you follow the Coastguard guidelines for thru-hulls, double clamps, hoses and routing of the hoses themselves (you may have to loop them before they go through the hull). If you are not very mechanically inclined, I would have a professional install this system.

I had a whale Gulper Grouper pump installed and routed to a new through hull port on the side and switch on the dash.
I added 2 starboard dividers to the fish box to allow all my ice to stay on one side. When i catch a lot of salmon i start pulling dividers to allow more room for fish.
Works great and easy to hose out after fish are removed.

My Tiara 30 Open has a fish box macerator pump that operates with a switch. I can hear the pump switching on when I toggle the switch but it doesn't draw the water out of the fish box.
Do need to be underway/engines running? Did I miss a valve to open? Airlock in the plumbing?
Boat is new to me. It's a 2006.

Try back flushing the lines using full garden hose pressure, both inside the box and outside at the tru-hull. Fish scales and guts will sometimes jam up the hose. There are chopper blades in the pump and an impeller to push the waste through. Often the impeller blades break off and you loose pumping capacity. Then it's time to pull the pump for an overhaul. I tried the garden hose method pushing out but don't know where the thru hull exit is. Any help would be appreciated.
If that doesn't work we'll pull the pump.
