Leak above Port hanging locker - Sovran 3900 - bbisland - 07-01-2019 Hi Tiara Owners, I'm hoping someone in the group can help me with a water leak I discovered last night. There seems to be a slow drip in several spots on the bottom of the port side of the salon upper storage cabinets, but the heaviest seems to be coming from just behind the inside wall at the top right corner of the port hanging storage locker (right side if you are standing in front of it). I was running the AC at the time I noticed it, and took of the cabin facia to get access to it; no signed or leaking from the unit. See attached pictures of the locker. Can anyone A. tell me how to gain access behind there (and behind the port storage cabinets above the sette)? and B. Can anyone tell me what's located behind there that could be the source of the leak? Thanks in advance & Happy 4th! I thought I would share my experience on this leak to benefit other owners. Turns out that the piping to the port side windshield washer (which is located above the headliner) burst. The water ran throughout the headliner and found its way to leak through the headliner on top of the port side lockers. I spoke to Tiara and they said it’s not a very serviceable item, and the only way to get to the plumbing is to take the port side headliner down. I’ve repaired the pipe but now have to find a better way of affixing the headliner besides 10lbs Velcro. The headliner drops the first time we get into a chop or cross a big wake. RE: Leak above Port hanging locker - Sovran 3900 - Sans Peur - 06-20-2020 10 lbs Velcro? Is that how the headliner is affixed to the ceiling? I am buying a 50 Open and the forward headliner is hanging. I was wondering what it will take to fix it. Leak above Port hanging locker - Sovran 3900 - Misdirection - 06-20-2020 Perhaps install a set of teak rod holders to your ceiling to hold the panel in place, even if you never use them to hold a rod. Panels that have been left alone seem to hold fast but if removed for any reason and reinstalled, never seem to stick as well. The old Velcro must loose its grip I guess. You can screw it in using snap caps in each corner or replace Velcro. I've know some owners who 5200 them back up but I would in no way recommend that. RE: Leak above Port hanging locker - Sovran 3900 - Sans Peur - 06-21-2020 Panels? There are no panels behind the headliner in this boat. Even the headliner in the main cabin doesn't have a backer panel and they are tight. I can feel some struts or metal strips spaced out behind the headliner but nothing in between them. Leak above Port hanging locker - Sovran 3900 - bbisland - 06-21-2020 There is a plywood frame that the panels were wood stapled to prior to me pulling the headliner panel down to repair the broken windshield washer pipe. Not sure what else besides heavy duty Velcro Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
