Rod holder insert for flag pole - Vidal Doll - 02-04-2014 Anyone have a suggestion for flying/displaying a flag off the transom rod holder? I do not want to drill/mount a flag pole bracket on the gunwale. I prefer less drilling into my boat while trying to utilize holes/holders already in place... Issue is flag pole diameter is smaller than rod holder. Am considering large teak pole to fill holder diameter, but thought a smaller diameter stainless pole might look better...but teak might add a diff touch... Not having much success at west marine or perko but may not be looking in right spot... Thxs for suggestions!! :flag: :flag Rod holder insert for flag pole - Uhehner - 02-04-2014 I would find a person with a lathe and have a 6" long insert with a lip turned to the rod holder ID and the flag pole OD. It could be wood or plastic. If its wood, leave enough tolerance for the wood to swell when wet. Capt. George Rod holder insert for flag pole - Dazzle - 02-04-2014 Maybe you could attach (glue / screw / etc.) a fishing rod gimbal to the base of the flag staff. The gimbals come in a varity of materials and sizes. There are some that will fit over the OD of the staff. Hope this helps.
