Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - IrvingVet - 02-15-2014 Looking for options on best place to get insurance for a new purchase for a 2001 Tiara 3100. Boat will be in Annapolis, Md on a lift (need to get lift) on Fishing Creek near Thomas Point. Progressive Insurance rate $2,606.00 per year. USAA Insurance which uses Progressive, rate is $2012.00 NBOA rate is $1566.00 Looks like options on coverage are the same. I am curious what Insurance others have for similar boat. Would like to link up with others on the Bay in the Annapolis area. Thanks, IrvingVet Irvingvet@ymail.com (Reel Vet) Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - ReelMagic - 02-15-2014 I'm a member of Marina Life (Believe home is Chesapeake). In any case got insurance through them. CATLIN is the insurance company. Significantly lower than all others that I looked into. Have been boating in excess of 50 years and switched from Travelers Ins. due to premium. Never put in a clain in 50 years. Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - Uhehner - 02-15-2014 I'm happy with Boat/US. 65 years on the water and never a claim but that's not what gets you a better rate. Join the Power Squadron or CG Auxiliary and take some classes. Also having electronics aboard helps with a better rate. Also designate your cruising water area and your boating season. I once got a quote that included Alaska. Are you in the water year round? Boats over 10 years old are harder to insure and some companies have length limits. You WILL need a survey. An in-water survey is less expensive. Talk to someone that knows what a boat is, not a auto/home insurance guy. Just remember, it's how well they pay claims, not how low their rate is. Boat/US has a good reputation and no, I'm not a salesman. Capt. George Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - greylion - 02-15-2014 Charter Lakes insurance. Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - anthem - 02-16-2014 I currently use ACE for my boat.....but I have recently heard some good things about Pantaenius (sp?) Good rates and good coverage. I am going to get a quote from them when I get closer to renewal. I'm in Florida full time so rates are stupid expensive. Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - IrvingVet - 02-16-2014 Thanks for all the replies. I will check with Boat US. Joined yesterday by upgrading to West Marine Gold which is $24 a year and provides free membership to Boat US. Great comments from others about using boat insurance companies and not home insurance companies. IrvingVet Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - ReelNauti - 02-17-2014 Those prices seem high to me but everyone is going to take a hit this year due to Sandy. I have ACE and saw my agent at the AC boat show. They confirmed what I have heard on the web. It's been 10 years since I changed my coverage so it looks like it might be time to adjust my policy. Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - DavidB - 02-22-2014 I just signed up for Pantaenius and the rates were in line with the other quotes that I received. Their coverage seemed a bit better than the others for about the same rate. They are owned by Liberty Mutual. The BoatUs quote in Florida was the highest of all the quotes. They are big on the disappearing deductible but you really land up paying the deductible yearly by increased premiums. Pantaenius is interesting in that they will only quote the named storm deductible after you have supplied them with your hurricane plan. Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - IrvingVet - 02-24-2014 Thanks for the Tip. I received a great quote. 50% less than others. "Reel Vet" Insurance rates for Tiara3100 - trit21 - 02-26-2014 Whom are you thanking and if I may ask, which company did you go with? Would like to get some other quotes as well, living in FL and boating in Ft Pierce has it advantages and disadvantages due to insurance. Thanks. Tom |
