Cleaning Brass Prop and Stainless Shafts - Betterdays123 - 04-03-2014

What is the best method to clean brass props?
Best method to clean stainless shafts?
They are attached to a boat dry docked.
Thanks

Last year I found some 3M scotch brite stripping discs that attach to a drill. I used them on the rudders, shafts & props to clean off all the old built up antifouling & barnacle remnants. They work great, but of course you need to wear a respirator. I used a slightly softer disc on the stainless & I found my cordless drill didn't have enough RPM so had to run an extension for my corded drill.

I just use a wire brush on my cordless drill. It makes fast work of it.

Make sure to get a good clean area for your shaft zincs and hit them with a hammer slightly to get a good bond
