AC install - boat - 04-08-2014 I have a 1996 31 open and will be installing a new AC system. The AC will be new to the boat and I have a few questions on the install. I understand that the factory installation had the strainer, pump, and inlet under the large fish box but I'm trying to get exact locations? Also, where does the factory air vent inlet for the AC unit go? Any pictures would be helpful. Thanks. Eric AC install - Dakota773 - 04-08-2014 The factory unit mounted on my 98 31 open is mounted under the bunk up front (below the large storage area accessed with the gas lifts, via an access panel). There is no "air intake" vent as it the fascia of the bunk does not go to the floor and there is plenty of open area, so the unit draws in directly through the coil. The water inlet is aft along the center line (one side or the other as strainer can't mount on the keel line) almost as far aft as possible. The strainer and pump are located on the stringer right above. The factory added a small plywood mount. I'll take and post some pics, but don't forget the other item, the condensate drain. With my set-up there is a drain pan with a drain line that runs under the floorboards where there is no access (at least on my rig) to the shower sump or the mid bilge. You might need a separate condensate pump or somehow fish a drain line aft? AC install - Persistence - 05-09-2014 thats pretty much how they just did my install. seawater intake was put in front of the port motor. ac was under the fwd bunk, alot of it was already ready for a factory option. condensation drain goes to the sump pump. |
