I have a 2006 29 Open Classic with twin gas engines. I would like to put an in hull transducer just forward of the port engine. Would a Raymarine p79 read through the hull? Is this part of the hull solid? The stats for the hull shows a 19 degree deadrise aft, is this the same for this location. Thanks for any help!

The hull is not 19 degrees in that location. I would put the ducer at the back end of the motor, ahead of the shaft not the front.

I have a 2007 38 Open. I added a low power "shoot thru" to my boat. My High power Raymarine Gear is great but not in shallow water with a mud bottom. The bootom on Tiaras are not cored, they are sold. I placed mine forward of the engine room, a tad forward of midships. adjsuted for the dead rise angle (20 degrees), then leveled the transducer. My particular transducer came with everhting I needed except for the polyprop glyc to fill the sensor recepticale. it works great with no
ping freq conflicts.

Put your transducer in a plastic bag and fill it with water. Then try setting it in different locations on the hull bottom. When you get a spot that operates well, check the outside bottom for a smooth area. Don't drill any holes until you do this. And maybe a shoot thru the hull will work for you. Capt George
