Cook top - JP5820 - 07-06-2020
Looking to replace the 2 burner princess cook top on my 1994 3100 open. I see Kenyon makes a similar model but the manual calls for 2 1/2 inch clearance under the pan for ventilation. There is only 2 1/4" total under the counter. Any suggestions are appeciated.

As we speak, I'm in the middle of having the countertop on my 88' 3100 replaced. Decided to install a new sink and faucet with a new laminate counter; eliminating the stove altogether. This would allow more space for food prep, etc. Should I find myself needing a cooktop, there are single and double burner induction tops which can live in a drawer when not needed.
Full disclosure---I may have gotten the portable induction cooktop idea from one of these forums. I can't recall where I read it---just that I liked it.
Originally, I wanted to use Corian with an undermount sink. The drawbacks were cost and losing the teak fiddles---which I'm partial to. With the Formica and the topmount sink, I can just put a cutting board over the sink and reinstall the fiddles.

If you are 1/4" shy have you thought about having something made to shim it up? I don't know what your countsrtop looks like but I bet you could get something that looked factory.

Don't want to hijack the thread but for anyone who might be interested, once the old Formica and it's 3/4" underlayment are removed, a 1/4" piece of plywood could go down with the 1/2 Corian on top of that. This brings you back to the original 3/4". The fiddles have a 7/8" groove along their back face. They could then be adhered to the edge of the Corian with a fastening method of your choice. The extra 1/8" in the groove is to hide any waviness in the joints.
