Restoring 2700 Continental - Robert.l.morris - 09-16-2020 Hello Tiara Owners, I inherited a 1984 2700 Continental from my dad. It has required a lot of TLC, nearly 2 years of work to feel comfortable enough to leave it in the slip for the season. I have been able to fix all of the leaks below the water line. But I have one issue driving me crazy. Whenever it rains I get about 5 gallons of water in the bilge. I have a new canvas and I’ve repaired all the deck fitting leaks. The scuppers are clear. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks for the help. Bob Morris RE: Restoring 2700 Continental - Capt. Paul - 09-16-2020 Hi Bob, I have a 2900 Coronet that collects water in a forward compartment below the V berth. The only thing left to do is pull and rebed the rub rail. I'll have to wait until I haul out next year to do it, but this seems to be the only way water can get in. See if you can find any evidence of water running down the sides into the bilge during a rain event. Paul RE: Restoring 2700 Continental - Togmaster - 09-18-2020 See if the scuppers are cracked or sealed properly. A cracked or leaking scupper will allow water to enter the bilge. I also get some water entering the v-berth. But I had thought it was entering through the anchor locker. I’ll be hauling it into the barn soon, so I’ll have to do a hose test. I’ll check the scuppers next weekend. Bob |
