Oil change interval Cat - Todaystheday - 09-20-2020

I have just bought a 2018
Tiara 53F, with Caterpillar 12.9’s they claim 250 hours between oil changes does anyone have any input?

There are a lot of factors that determine oil life. Cat now publishes maintenance intervals based on hours, months, and fuel burn. Whichever interval comes first. Follow their guidelines and use a high grade oil that meets Cat specifications and you should be fine. guessing they don't want you pushing the oil over 12 months regardless of how many hours. Regular sampling is a good idea. I pull fluid samples every 24 months.

Thanks that’s what I’ll do! The boat has been dry docked since November 2019. In a qualified Marina, they said they did the oil and boat hasn’t been run. Only 100 hours total on the boat. Getting ready to move it 1600 miles but they said that the oil is good still.
