Helm & Switch Panel Refurb (1986 3100 Pursuit) - emarrero - 11-11-2020 Here are a few pics and resources from my helm & switchpanel project The switchpanel had seen better days and some water had gotten behind it over the years. [attachment=747] So it was time to give it some love. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing so I used the excellent design tool at frontpanelexpress.com to draw out what I wanted it to look like and had a beautiful anodized aluminum panel shipped to my door for $168.00 including beveled screw holes, engraving, and rounded edges. [attachment=748] Bought switches, housings, and pins at "The Switch Guys" (otrattw.net). Bought peel & stick rubber backing for the whole panel at rubbersheetwarehouse.com. Bought a crimper tool from the big rainforest store on the web, and spent the better part of a day learning as I went. I now know exactly what's back there and how it was done. I still have to add the remote battery switches but after that I hope not to have to think about it again for a long time. [attachment=749] |
