1999 Tiara 4000 Express / 9kw Onan - Keolson321 - 11-11-2020
I have a 9kw Onan generator on my 1999 Tiara 4000 Express. Would anyone know what tank the generator is connected (starboard, port or auxiliary)? And if familiar with the generator how to re-prime the generator? Thanks!

Not sure what tank your 1999 40 Express is connected to but on my 2003 38 Open its connected to the Starboard Tank. You should be able to see which by looking at the top of each tank as each hose is marked. Should see markings like port & Starboard engine supply, port & starboard return, and Generator supply... WRT to re-priming the fuel system on my Onan 9 KW generator the start/stop switch is also used to prime the fuel system. Press the start/stop switch to the STOP position and hold. A yellow light in switch itself will start to blink. Hold for 30-60 seconds and the yellow light should blink faster and faster then go solid.... M2C

If your 99 is the same as my 99 4000, it pulls from the center/Aux tank. Access to it is under the panel in the cabin sole right in front of the fridge.
Unless a previous owner changed your plumbing, you can’t shift tanks for the genset either. It always pulls from the Aux tank. The mains you can change from either their respective tank or the Aux tank.

On my 41 open it pulls from the starboard tank. Also be aware that the generator pickup tube only goes part way down the tank. If your tank gets low the genny will run out of fuel ling before your engine will.

+1 - My 1998 4000 Express Onan also pulls from the center tank only.
