Refinishing Stairs - Matta0413 - 12-21-2020 My stairs are beginning to ware. I think I am going to take the treads off and refinish over the winter. Has anyone done this? If so what did you use to refinish? Is there anything out there with some "Grip", the steps get pretty slippery when wet. RE: Refinishing Stairs - Gosseligbeg - 12-21-2020 I used MinWax Spar Urethane [Helsman].....4 coats after cleaning them. On the last coat, I applied fine beach sand using a salt shaker to give them some grip......good luck! RE: Refinishing Stairs - jclark003 - 12-21-2020 When I did this Tiara recommended Repcolite low luster urathane with Awlgrip grip-text non skid. I think most urathane finishes will do the job RE: Refinishing Stairs - Matta0413 - 12-22-2020 Thanks for the input. RE: Refinishing Stairs - North000 - 10-28-2023 Questions- Did you take it down to bare wood ? If so, what color stain was used if any? I have 2900 open (99) and the 2 steps appear to have some color in them. Thanks RE: Refinishing Stairs - hiccup - 10-30-2023 Tiara does not stain the wood. I have refinished my teak steps by sanding down to bare wood and refinishing with clear satin polyurethane and it matches the flooring quite well. |
