Fresh Water Autofill - Nelsond - 12-30-2020
Anyone know where the fresh water autofill valve locate on a 4700? Or how this system is engineered? Does not work per owners manual. Guessing it’s the valve, but can’t find it.

I have the same problem on my 3800 HT.
I correctly use the dock fresh water connection, but I'm unable to fill the tank through it.
I can only fill the fresh water tank through the tank cap.
I'm sure there must be a connection but I don't know how to do it.
Could someone help ?

Same here. Dock side fresh water connection works fine, but will not fill tank. Press the Autofill switch per owners manual instructions - nothing happening. Wire/engineering diagrams indicate a valve (somewhere), but can’t find it. Assumed it would be on tank, but doesn’t appear that way. Certainly would be a lot easier than filling through deck cap.

There's a pressurized inlet only hose between the pump and the tank and it's somewhere on that run. If you google jabsco autofill you can find a pdf file showing how they are plumbed.

On my 2003 38 Open there is NO connection allowing the internal fresh water tank to be filled via the dockside water connection in the cockpit. Have to use the deck fill on the port side gunwale about mid-ship. Not sure about later models of the 38 or 47 Sovran. Have no switch or button indicating "auto fill".. M2C631,854.21

In would love to add this capability to my ‘99 4000, so I searched for “jabsco autofill valve.” Got a lot of results to various Jabsco manuals showing how they’re plumbed, but no part numbers. Any chance someone has one?

Where is this switch located at ? I have never heard of such a thing but may be a feature on your particular model , or maybe I have never found mine LOL . I just fill my fresh water tank through the fitting on the bow of the boat and then when it is full there is a vent on the side of the boat for the overflow .

The switch on my 50 Open is under the sink. The solenoid valve is in the mid hatch next to the big water distribution piece. It is long and has all the water lines coming off it with individual valves for each line.
I will be on the boat today and will take a picture of it and post back.

The switch is inside a galley cabinet next to sink. The benefit of this “Autofill” function is not having water sitting in the tank getting stale while your connected to dockside water. Dockside water connection does not go through the tank, rather directly to faucets, etc. When your ready to cast off and go out to sea you just press the “Autofill” switch and it fills your tank with fresh water. Then disconnect the dockside hose, turn on the water pump at distribution panel and your ready to go. So says the manual - not. I’ll check the mentioned Jabsco site maybe that will shed some light.

After a fair amount of fiddling I figured out the sequence for this on my 4400/4700
Step 1: turn off "fresh water pump 1" on the breaker board
Step 2: turn on "fresh water pump 2" on the breaker board
Step 3: Close the orange valve mounted on the aft side of the bulkhead forward of the water heater (just under the middle floor hatch in the cabin"
Step 4: engage auto fill switch in the galley
The actual solenoid valve for the autofill is located on top of the fresh water tank...you can see it when you open the aft most hatch in the cabin floor
