boat horn - honest mark - 03-02-2021 my horn is dead, lol, anyone switch out a horn ? big job? alot of labor? RE: boat horn - ReelMagic - 03-02-2021 Not sure what you say "it's dead"..... Over the years I've had problems with my air horns. Most of the time I fixed it by taking the cover off the horns themselves and cleaning the diaphragms and making sure there is a seal with them. works every time. Assume your are air horns as well... Again what do you mean they dead. did you check power, switch, etc.... Any noise coming from the air compressor? RE: boat horn - honest mark - 03-02-2021 i will check that, pressed the switch and very weak sound i have to get up on hard top this weekend and check the horns, thank you my son just told me, the diaphragms have no seal, no o ring around them, and are cracked, now what? lol, any ideas? what would you guys do next? RE: boat horn - ReelMagic - 03-02-2021 It sounds more to me the diaphragms need to be replaced or as a minimum cleaned as does the insides of the horns..The diaphragms seal around the inner seat which may need to be sanded lightly to remove any salt/roughness... Been my problem numerous times. You can order replacement diaphragms from FLAMM technologies assuming yours are the same as mine. Mine are Fultone Series Twins, model 6235112... The kit to replace the diaphragms is 2132311.. Google FLAMM RE: boat horn - honest mark - 03-03-2021 THANK YOU VERY MUCH RE: boat horn - reeltimebrad - 03-03-2021 Take them apart clean and reinstall with a little smear of silicone between the diaphragms and the cap only where they seal not the whole area. If it's cold outside and they seem weak it's a sure sign that there leaking. RE: boat horn - honest mark - 03-08-2021 THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, I TOOK APART HORN, WAT A MESS , TRIED SILICONE AND TRIED A LIQUID GASKET, FOUND A BRAND NEW HORN FOR $135, I DONT NEED THE COMPRESSOR, JUST GOT ME A NEW ONE, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP |
