Engine hatch doesn’t close even,y - Gypsydawn2021 - 04-25-2021
I have a 2000 2900 open the engine hatch opens fine but when closing doesn’t close evenly and binds. It results in a lot of up and down action to get it to close. Any advice?

Similar problem with my 1996 3100 open. A friend and I determined it might be a hinge issue. Binding occurs on the port side and the gap across the forward hatch increases by a quarter inch moving starboard to port. Inspecting the hinges we found the forward part of the hinge can slide. We attempted to loosen both the center and port hinge bolts and move the entire hatch forward. Problem is we could never get at the last bolt (most port). Tried to move the hatch anyway and definitely reduced the binding. Still need a thinner friend or an idea on how to access that last hinge bolt.
