fresh water tank - honest mark - 07-09-2021 pretty sure i have a leak in my fresh water tank, my question is....... where might i fiind the tank itself and is it easy to get at, any idea how to fix it or do i just replace it? thank you guys... RE: fresh water tank - Matta0413 - 07-09-2021 What year/model do you have? On my 3100 Open it is on the starboard side in the engine compartment on the outside of the starboard motor RE: fresh water tank - jclark003 - 07-09-2021 Most of the larger opens such as the 42 and 43 have the water tank mounted underneath the cabin sole. If so there should be an access hatch in your floor with both the water and waste tanks mounted for and aft on the centerline. Removing is not an easy task. Check the platform underneath the tank. If there is a hole in the tank the platform will be wet and dripping water into the bilge. What makes you think the tank is ruptured if you haven’t inspected it yet? RE: fresh water tank - honest mark - 07-17-2021 sorry for the delay, i have just noticed water in my port engine compartment, crystal clear water, no smell whatsoever, i have noticed when i fill my fresh water tank up about 3/4 of the way when i check the gauge it seems to go down pretty quickly, i only use the fresh water tank for the head, nothing really else so i dont think it should go down that quickly, now the last couple times i have only filled the tank up about a 1/4 of the way and i have not had any more fresh water in the engine compartment? maybee its just my imagination?? i did wash the deck pretty good the other day, maybee water leaked down from the deck?? RE: fresh water tank - jclark003 - 07-17-2021 Strange. Maybe fill the FW tank again and see if the water returns. Although I still think a leaking tank would show water in the forward bilges, not under an engine. You can also try to mop up all the water, get it good and dry down there, and sprinkle a line of talc powder around the parimiter of the compartment. Wherever the water is coming from will wash away the talc leaving a trail. Blue shop towels work too. Is the hot water tank mounted outside of that engine? Sometimes weeds or duck weed can get in the to shaft seal causing it to leak temporarily. Running the boat for a bit can clean the surfaces and cause the seal to mate properly again. RE: fresh water tank - Maxwell - 07-19-2021 The fresh water tank is mounted sideways just down the companionway stairs on the 42. If it's leaking, you likely wouldn't get water in the ER, it would go to the forward bilge. If it is the water tank, it's a pain. A weld failed on ours a few years ago. They had to cut an access into the floor, sawzall the old tank out in pieces and replace with a new poly tank that ran lengthwise. If you're getting water in the engine room on the port side, check the fittings on your water heater. If you find out that it is the tank, pm me your email and I can send you all the details of where to get it made etc as they've done a few of them... Max RE: fresh water tank - honest mark - 07-20-2021 thank you maxwell, will do RE: fresh water tank - honest mark - 08-02-2021 so i filled my fresh water tank up with blue food coloring to see if i could find my leak, i could not find it, the water level in my fresh water tan seems to go down, i dont use sinks or shower only the head, if i only turn on pump #1 and pump #2 and then leave the pumps on i do see the waterlevel in the tank go down, if i only turn on the pumps when i am using the head i dont seem to have as much water loss in my tank? if the leak was coming out of the tank wouldn't i have blue water in the bildge? the water is crystal clear? i checked my shafts dont seem to be leaking, have checked all the 15mm pex tubing in the boat, cannot for the life of me find the leak, if it was coming in from the lake the water in the bildge wouldnt be as clear as drinking water would it? anywhere else i could check, the amount of water i am talking about is about 2 inches, not enough for the bildge to kick on, when i get in the bildge and use a shop vac, suck all the water out, the water comes back from the back of the boat, i checked under both fish boxes, cant find any leaks, im stumped???? HELP... RE: fresh water tank - Sans Peur - 08-02-2021 Are your rudder shift seals leaking? |
