2003 3100 Open needs shaft seals - JonAFL - 07-25-2021
[attachment=889]I just had a survey completed on a 2003 3100 open I have under contract. The report came back and said that both of my shaft seals need to be replaced. I’m trying to get a ballpark cost for this repair so I know how to address the issue with the seller. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Depends…
1. If the dripless system components are still good, the seals just need to be replaced, and there are new ones already on the shaft, probably just a couple hours labor since it can be done in the water.
2. If new seals are not already on the shaft, that would be a bit more because the shaft has to be pulled back and would take more labor and possibly (probably) hauling the boat.
3. If the entire dripless system needs to be replaced, you’re looking at about $1000 in parts plus #2 above.
