3800 - Fresh Water Tank Replacement - RobRay - 08-06-2021 Hello. I have a 2001 3800 Open. Fresh water tank is apparently leaking into mid-bilge. Has anyone replaced this tank? Trying to get my head around what will be involved with this apparently hard to access tank. Thank you. RE: 3800 - Fresh Water Tank Replacement - mggilmorern@gmail.com - 08-13-2021 I posted looking for help with a tank on a 3100 a few weeks ago and didn't get any input, so I'm guessing it doesn't happen too often. Anyway, one thought I had for the situation is... The Tank is going to be very difficult to remove in one piece, maybe even requiring an engine to be pulled. Maybe a good option worth exploring would be to cut into the leaking tank and use it as a structure to secure a water bladder. You could potentially have a water bladder custom made to fit in the tank dimensions which would give it plenty of support and give you plenty of water storage, even if not the full amount you had before. Just thinking of a different angle then tearing out a tank. RE: 3800 - Fresh Water Tank Replacement - Medicone - 08-13-2021 Are you sure it is a leak from the tank and not from the pump/filter/supply hose? Is the tank emptying into the bilge without the pump on, or is the pump cycling? Did you check the pump fittings/filter elements to make sure it is not running down the tubes? Did you check to see if the drain plug on the tank is loose or out? Where is your tank and what material? There are several posts on this topic on a 38 open in the forum. Best, M1 |
