Fresh water tank - Txcolor - 08-11-2021 I just bought a 1997 400mid cabin express, The fresh water smells awful. I bought 2 cans of water fresh water brightener but the containers say "do not use with aluminum tank", What kind of tank do I have & how best to remove odor? Thanks Bruce RE: Fresh water tank - HNS1 - 08-11-2021 Small amounts of bleach, flush and re bleach till odor is under control. Fresh water tank - Misdirection - 08-11-2021 The bleach method works. But I use Starbrite Water Treatment and freshener in my aluminum tank, never had an issue. Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk RE: Fresh water tank - emarrero - 08-11-2021 [attachment=896] You'll have two water tanks, one forward of the center fuel tank and one to starboard of it. This label is on my "to starboard" water tank. My personal choice would be the "bleach, fill, empty, repeat" method. Not sure what's in that Starbrite stuff that makes them say not to use it on aluminum but I'd probably heed their warning. Hope it works out well for you! RE: Fresh water tank - jap201 - 08-17-2021 we had the same problem and did the bleach/flush/refill. took a couple of tanks, but it's coming under control. I'd still not drink the water from. the tanks. but its fine for everything else. the more you turn over your water, the fresher it'll be RE: Fresh water tank - mggilmorern@gmail.com - 08-19-2021 I agree with the others and I use the bleach method, multiple times. You should check is the strainer on your water pump a few times while going through the process because any growth in your tank could clog it as you try to pump through all of that water. |
