Looking at 3800 Express - boatmanmark - 11-16-2021

Hello to all members. I am looking at a Tiara 3800 express and wondered if any of you have had to deal with water intrusion in the coring? My friend had a 38 Pursuit (04) and the starboard side was loaded. I will of course check the boat out but just wanted to see how prevalent a problem this is. Thanks in advance...

I am thinking about having all the ports on my 3800 re bedded to prevent this from happening. How is it done and how much should it cost? I am guessing that it is best done on the hard in case you drop one.

To rebed the portlights, at least the most common ones requires the mounting screws to be removed from the interior side.

There are two halves of the portlight, interior and exterior. They need to be separated and removed. Mine had a bead of caulk applied from the exterior that needed removed. Also removing the exterior piece requires some work as its caulked to the hull of the boat. Razor blades are your friend.

Once removed, they need cleaned of the old silicon.

As long as there isn't any moisture or rot, reinstalling is the opposite process.

I watched a couple of YouTube videos before I did mine.

No idea how much a yard would charge as I did mine myself.

The 38 I am looking at has no port lights.

There should be no problem unless something was damaged. Put a water meter on it.
