Charging batteries with 30A/110 house power? - Lillikat - 12-15-2021

Hi guys- I have to move to a private dock for. 3 months while my dock is getting g overhauled. I found a private dock nearby but there is no shore power. He charges his Duffy with 30A/110 but it did not work for me. I was told I’d need at least 120. I have every converter you can think of to 50A but still not enough. Has anyone had this problem and do you have advice? Thanks in advance

I'm assuming dockside there are 2-30amp/110 connections. If that's correct you need a reverse "Y" (Marinco part RY504-2-30). For this to work correctly each of the 2 30 amp dockside pedestal connections must be out of phase with each other.... If not the reverse Y adapter will not work.... My 38 Open allows me to use either a 50 amp/125/250 connection (same as you have) or via a second connection a single 30 amp/110 cable... I then turn on the appropriate shore power breakers on my master power panel...Hope this helps...... May be a little confusing if your not aware of how pedestals are wired...

If your boat is wired for 50/amp 240 grabbing 2 30's or using y adapters wont work. Volts is the determining factor here.

Exactly- this is the problem. No shore power. Basically a 30A/110 running from a house (I.e., land) extension cord. Any products I could use?

Just purchased a charger from West Marine. A hundred bucks. Hoping it’ll do.
