HELLO FROM A NEW MEMBER THAT NEEDS ADVICE! - Showtime - 03-09-2022
Hello Fellow Tiara Owners!
I just purchased a very clean 1993 2900 Open with twin Crusader 350HT's.
I live in Orange County, CA and my boat is slipped in Newport Beach. I previously owned a 26' Striper but sold it 7 years ago. I am now a boat owner again and already to Bring On Another Thousand!...actually passed that with some goodies.
I would like to know if any of you have a PDF list of required items to keep on your Tiara. Like tools for example...I know there are the basics (wrenches, screwdrivers, etc) but what other tools are needed? Also, any other items for cleaning, polishing, etc? Finally, for those who have older boats like me, what maintenance areas have you found to really focus on that you have found greatly reduce major repairs or breakdowns?

Basic hand and electric tools
I keep small needle nose voice grips.
The most used tool for us has been a Klein 11 in one screwdriver.
I shouldn't have to mention keeping spare fuel filters on board , just because.
I am sure there is a lot I haven't covered but others will be along shortly
Where are my manners?

- Belts for both the mains and GenSet
- Some of all fluids (oil, trans, coolant)
- Oil filters (in case of a burst)
- Impellers (even an old one will get you home)
- Basic socket set
- Oil diapers
- Razor blade/box cutter
- Lighter (weird, I know, but I seem to use mine a lot)
- Electrical tape
- 6-in-1 screwdriver
- Retractable magnet tool (like at the NAPA checkout)
- Vice grips
- Flashlight
That’s off the top of my head. Most stuff you just kind of collect over experience.

Few other things, only because I was down at the boat today and took note….
- Zip ties
- Wire cutters
- Scissors
- Small tape measure
- Funnel
- Small pipe wrench (can be useful for loosening stuck hose w/o damaging
- Rags

Mike, welcome to the forum.
Make sure you have wrenches large enough for the stuffing boxes.
A set of hose clamp socket drivers comes in handy as well. Trying to get a flat head screwdriver on a hose clamp while hanging upside down is a PITA.
Liquid Electrical Tape is also a very handy thing to have. Even though I used heat shrink I still brush that stuff on.
Also, keep a nerf football on-board. If you get a hole in the hull nothing works better than sticking that through it to stop the water. (Don't ask how I know, just take the advice)
You can spend thousands on tools and still not have the correct one. Just cover the basics and you will be able to at least get back in.
