Paint peeling from Hardtop lights - todc - 09-27-2014
I am looking at a 3600 Open that has paint peeling from the round lights shining down in the hardtop. The metal surface appears to be bronze. No corrosion is evident visually. There is also a place where the headliner in the hardtop has come unglued for a few inches. Anyone have thoughts about the cause of this? I'm not worried about fixing these items but I am worried about the underlying cause.

I have a few lights where the paint is coming off too. Mine appear to be stainless under the paint. I am thinking of just scraping the paint off so they all match.

Both come from moisture. Is water getting on those light assemblies? Keep your bilge bone dry and these problems will slow down, especially the headliner. I once had some moisture getting inside the AC space in my 3600 Open, and it only took one season for all my cabin headliner to drop. Was perfect before that. For metal surfaces, consider occasionally putting something like WD-40 or Boeshield on any plated metal surfaces you care about.
