Hydraulics information - skindr - 09-30-2014
My hydraulic system has died on my 40'express.I needed a new pump +valves and manifold + new hoses. My mechanic is stumped at getting it all to properly function and, lacking schematic diagrams faces many more hours labor at my expense. I called Tiara several times and, as usual was only able to leave voicemail which elicited no response. Anyone have a schematic diagram and electrical schematics of the hydraulics ? The owner's manual is of no help. Thanks

That system can be difficult to sort out . I had issues with mine and found that grounding at the pump and solenoid was the main trouble . Every mechanic checks for power , but the loss of grounding is very common . I replaced rocker switches and set up a bus bar for grounding at the pump in the lazzerette . If you are hiring people call a hydraulics overhaul shop , they understand these systems . Really its similar to a snow plow set up .

I second this. The hydraulic pump in a 4000 express is buried in the aft bilge and those leads get very corroded. If your mechanic didn't check for this, and cannot figure out how to replace the pump, then you need to find another mechanic. You should not need a global schematic to replace it.

A boat is a never ending source of learning. As stated before,I found the pump, valves(4) and manifold only held together by rust alone. After 20yrs or so with the parts living in the aft bilge I am not complaining. There are no snow plow dealers in So. F . so I spent over $2500 in replacement parts since the originals are no longer made. Unfortunately,after hooking up the multitude of parts,the on,off switches no longer were hooked up properly. Tiara finally came through with a schematic and it all worked,but then all the hoses were blowing. The culprit was a pressure switch (unmarked) on the pump itself which needed to be reset to lower the pressure so hoses won't be over-pressurized. Quite a learning experience !

I'm searching though the posts for anyone having more information on the hydraulics. I see you mention "Tiara finally came through with a schematic". Is this something you still have and would be willing to send me, or post online?
