1996 Crusader 454 XLI No start - roboh20 - 06-26-2022 Greetings, After doing some maintenance on port 1996 Crusader 454XLI I went to start engine but the throttle was in the half position, engine started, raced and than cut out. Now it would not crank, turn key, red comes on but engine does not crank. any thoughts. Thanks RE: 1996 Crusader 454 XLI No start - MC1600 - 06-26-2022 What maintenance did you do? Anything you may you have disconnected in the process? RE: 1996 Crusader 454 XLI No start - roboh20 - 06-26-2022 (06-26-2022, 05:46 PM)MC1600 Wrote: What maintenance did you do? No, ran rydlyme through both engines, the problem was the throttle on the port engine was at half throttle when I cranked that engine to flush it. It raced high than shut down. Did i over load a reylay. RE: 1996 Crusader 454 XLI No start - MC1600 - 06-26-2022 Does the starter even click/clunk? Rule out a battery issue. Do you have a crossover you can engage to link all your batteries together to start an engine? 2. It could be a starter issue. If #1 fails, you may need to consider pulling it for a rebuild. Before doing that, you can give it a couple good whacks with a rubber mallet. That sometimes will work to disengage a stuck gear and give you one more start. Perhaps (way out there theory) that if the engine spooled-up fast enough when you started it, the starter did not have time to fully disengage. Might mean a fried starter, but given the fact it won’t engage/turnover at all, I’d focus there or with a battery issue first. RE: 1996 Crusader 454 XLI No start - roboh20 - 06-27-2022 Thank You MC1600. Tried crossover, no help. Both starting batteries are up. I think the starter theory is plausible, will check it out. Will keep you posted. Appreciate your input. |
