How to change transmission oil on 4000 Express w CAT 3208's - frank.koetter - 09-20-2022 I may have to do some homework to id what transmission I have. However I have a 2000 Tiara 4000 Express with CAT 3208's and V drive. This is "new" to me for a season and I'm ready to change the transmission oil and filter. But I don't know how to drain the oil (or draw it from). Can anyone help? Thanks-in-advance RE: How to change transmission oil on 4000 Express w CAT 3208's - ReelMagic - 09-20-2022 If you have the Oil changer system you can remove the transmission fluid that way. On my 2003 38 Open w/Cummins the oil change system allows me to remove oil from each of the Main engines (Cummins), the generator and the transmission fluid from each transmission. Assume the Cats are the same. M2C RE: How to change transmission oil on 4000 Express w CAT 3208's - MC1600 - 09-20-2022 If your setup is like mine, it’s not connected to the oil change pump/manifold. You can try and get the drain bolt off, but that typically makes a giant mess (if you can get the plug out). Best way to do it is suck it out through the dipstick with an oil extractor. I’d also plan on being judicious with the filter changes. I had designs on changing it every year when I do the oil, but at almost $100 each, I figured I could get a couple/few years out of each. It's not connected to the transmissions. I can reasonably reach the dipsticks, but they're short in length (maybe 4 inches) so I didn't think sucking oil out of the dipstick opening would be the best way to remove the oil. Anyone else out there care to share their method of changing oil from the transmission? By the way thanks! RE: How to change transmission oil on 4000 Express w CAT 3208's - MC1600 - 09-20-2022 Frank — the oil extractor has a tube that goes about 12”+ into the transmission. RE: How to change transmission oil on 4000 Express w CAT 3208's - frank.koetter - 09-20-2022 Okay. Got it. I'm going to take a look into it. Will update the post afterwards. Thanks! First hand experience with oil extractor. Works like a charm and no mess...or at least very little mess.
