Anchor Locker Fresh Water Connection - twilson0929 - 09-23-2022

Could use some thoughts / photos on connecting to the blue freshwater plumbing line that was run by Tiara but not finished in my 3800 open anchor locker. It ends in the anchor locker with an easily accessible Whalen elbow that has been plugged. Would think I would want an on/off valve in the connection. If anyone has photos of how Tiara connects this or how they did it I would be very grateful.

The first thing you'd need to determine is whether it's connected to your freshwater tank or raw water. If your freshwater tank, I would think just a quick connect would do the trick. If it's raw water, like I think most of our stock set-ups were, then you would need to consider where it's plumbed in relation to the pump.

I own a 2003 38 Open and if the color of the water hose is blue then its freshwater. If the water hose is a light teal color then its raw water (fresh or salt ) based on weather your in salt water or fresh

It’s freshwater. I have no raw water system. It looks easy enough to connect to, was wondering what type of connection is up there to join it to a hose, preferably with a shut off. My boats 20 years old and I find it doesn’t take much to get a leak or a crack on those older fittings.

Then the connection is a quick connect. It’s essentially always”on” if the freshwater pumps are on, but the quick connect fixture prevents a constant flow until you hook-up the other half attached to a hose. As of a couple years ago, Tiara still had these parts, but since you don’t need to match something else you’d be fine with buying retail and hooking it up. Would be way less expensive. I’d start at McMaster Carr

A quick connect to a hose is a simple set up. Pop it off set the hose aside, no leaks. I think I will try that first. Thanks all!

On my 2003 38 Open I can see the water line, in my case raw water, going forward toward the anchor locker (can see water line under the master bed) but it doesn't come through the anchor locker bulkhead... Can someone send me a picture where the faucet/water line comes through the anchor locker bulkhead... Thanks in advance

I will take a photo of where mine is in the anchor locker. It’s capped right now but I hope to connect to it this weekend.

The washdown hose is in the anchor locker at the forwardmost and topmost point of the locker. You have to put your head all the way inside to see it. I attached a picture of the bracket I welded up and attached to the underside of the cleat next to the anchor windlass so that I can attach a washdown hose via quick disconnect inside the locker.

There is also a shutoff valve for this line next to the fresh water pumps under the floor hatch outside the head.
