1993 2900 Open, 350 Crusaders Maintenance & Replacement ?? - 29opensoon - 12-07-2022 Trying to go into the purchase with my eyes & ears WIDE OPEN. The boat and engines are 30yrs old. Used in brackish water. Not much for maintenance records. 800hrs, 1 owner. What should I plan on Replacing now? Yes, a Survey & hopefully a Crusader mechanic will check the Tiara out. Risers ? $ Elbows ? $ Manifolds $? Heat Exchangers $? Ect........$$ ? Thanks, RE: 1993 2900 Open, 350 Crusaders Maintenance & Replacement ?? - Medicone - 12-15-2022 Yes to: Risers, elbows, manifolds, heat exchangers. Additional: thermostats, coolant, elbows, hoses and clamps (to do the job right), belts, plugs, plug wires, fuel filters, oil filters/oil change, oil coolers, raw water pumps. Possible: FWC pumps, exhaust, fuel lines, fuel fill hoses, fuel tank(s) I would figure, conservatively, at least $12-17K (not including "Possible" repairs) assuming you have a marine mechanic doing the work (also assuming you can find a marine mechanic who is willing to work on 30+ year old gas inboard engines - they are difficult to come by). If I was purchasing a 30+ year old boat with questionable maintenance records, I would want all of the above done, as well as a really good survey prior to purchase. The 29' Open has a very small engine compartment and, from what I have heard, it is very difficult to work on the engines. It may be necessary to remove the engine hatch and/or various components to get the job done. At the very least, it will definitely take a mechanic more time to do the work order than it would take on, say, a 31' Open or 35' Open, which have more working space in the engine room. Good luck! -M1 Risers ? $ Elbows ? $ Manifolds $? Heat Exchangers $? Ect........$$ ? 1993 2900 Open, 350 Crusaders Maintenance & Replacement ?? - Misdirection - 12-15-2022 If it survey's well and the engines check out, I wouldn't replace anything right away...I would have a complete tune up done to set a baseline and then make a plan for what will need repaired in the future. I bought an 86 Tiara 36 Open 5 years ago, with 4000 hours on it. I just passed 4350 hours and am having the top end redone, manifolds, elbows, and risers checked out this winter.
