For all those 400 express owners struggling to come up with a viable davit system I wanted to share my solution. Just finished installation and can't wait for spring to give it a try.

Interesting, I have a few questions of questions:
1. Do you take the arm off after you stow the dinghy?
2. How is the cradle mounted? toggle bolts? or did you find the stringers? or major surgery to put in a backing plate?
3. who makes the cradle? is it removeable?

The crane "arm" does not get taken off. It pivots out to lift and place the dinghy. It's high enough to clear the open trunk. I made the cradle myself. I own a manufacturing company so I have all the machines and tools required. I used a modified version of the VersaChock deck mounts. Again, I have a metal shop so I was able to fabricate much larger backing plates and install them the same way VersaChock does theirs. once I had the holes in the platform I plugged them with a plate on the bottom held up by a wire and poured that epoxy that is for fixing rotted wood so it was absorbed by the core material. Maybe not an engineered solution but I think it will work. I'll follow up with more info once I'm in the water. Which may not be until July the way Midwest weather is going!
