Zf 302v-ld trans prop shaft removal - Docked Wages - 02-15-2023

Hello All,
I need to remove the prop shaft from the coupler on the transmission to replace the lip seals on my Norscot pack less. Has anyone down this before on a ZF 302V-LD? It’s in a 1995 3500 express with 6cta’ s.

I've had it done by a boatyard. New PSS shaft seals installed. Not too bad a job.

You need the boat out of the water, remove couplings and propellers, pull shafts out (they clear rudder).

Check alignment on everything while this work is being done.

Coupling to shaft concentricity and propeller balance. Final engine alignment when boat is in water.

I have same transmissions, different boat - 4000 Express

Thanks Richard,
Trying to remove shaft from coupler but no room to get a jaw puller on it, it’s only about 4” from bulkhead and didn’t want to use a slide hammer on shaft. I’ve fabricated a tool that will put pressure on it and am going to use a slide hammer on shaft and hopefully she will pop out of coupler with just a couple hits- kinda worried about the trans drive shaft using slide hammer alone.
