anyone had there dashboard guage description engraved and then highlighted

The original was just silkscreened. I believe that gauge backing panel is aluminum. It would be far easier to have it repainted and silkscreened than to actually engrave it, but it would look cool!
If you end up having it engraved, post pictures, would love to see it.
