Cost of a 3800 when they were new? - drwdennis@juno.com - 12-18-2024 I'm a newbie, and this looks like a great community! Can't wait to be an Owner, too. This may seem like a strange question. I am beginning the search for a 3800 Open. In seeing various asking prices for different years, engine hours, conditions, and options, I can't help but wonder what one of them cost when brand new back when they were making them in the early-to-mid 2000s. Just wondering about general depreciation. I realize that 2024 dollars are quite different in value than, say, 2005 dollars. But I think that it's important to know how a Brand holds its value, and this may help me sort things out. I know Tiaras are pretty much in a class by themselves, and I think the numbers should bear this out. Can anyone give me any idea of List-Base-Price range in that year's dollars for any of the years 3800 Opens were made? Thanks. RE: Cost of a 3800 when they were new? - hiccup - 12-19-2024 Base prices ranged from low $300's in '01 to low $400's in '08. Typical options easily added over $100k, even as much as $200k. Very common things like hardtops and a generator were expensive options not included in the base price. With all that said, I would say the typical 3800 Open cost about $750k when new when accounting for average options and inflation.
